Phillip T. Vondra, Esq. is a local graduate of Serrano High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Irvine. From there he went on to San Diego and graduated from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 1991, and was admitted to practice law in 1992.
Phil became a successful attorney in the San Diego area gaining valuable courtroom experience handling criminal defense cases. In 1998 Phil decided to return to the High Desert area to raise a family and open a personal injury practice in Phelan. As a personal injury attorney he prides himself on giving honest advice. He understands that in a small, tight-knit community like the High Desert, word of mouth is everything. The majority of his cases have come from word of mouth referrals.
Phil's tremendous success as a personal injury attorney stems from his passion and determination to help his clients combined with his superior expertise in litigation and negotiations. Mr. Hanna received his BA from the Evergreen State College in 1976. He received a Masters degree in education at the University of Idaho in 1978 while working as a teacher/intern at a local middle school. Mr. Hanna worked as a certified secondary teacher in both Washington State and California until 1988.
In 1988, Mr. Hanna received a juris doctor from Western State University and was licensed to practice law in California. He practiced criminal law with the firm of Stewart and Barnett in Santa Ana, California until 1992 and completed over 20 jury trials. In 1992, Mr. Hanna moved to the High Desert and has practiced workers’ compensation for 22 years. In addition to representing injured workers, Mr. Hanna has also practiced for over one year as a defense attorney representing insurance companies and employers with the Law Firm of McDermott and McNamara. He returned to applicant practice with additional skills and knowledge to maximize benefits for his clients.
Mr. Hanna is certified by the State Bar of California as a Workers’ Compensation Specialist. He is also a member of the California Applicant Attorney Association which advocates increased benefits for injured workers throughout California.
Stacey Vredenburg is a full time legal secretary in our personal injury department. Stacey began her employment with our firm in 2017. Stacey comes to us with a background in accounting and bookkeeping which we felt would be instrumental in keeping track of our clients bills incurred as a result of their injuries. She also has experience as an eligibility worker with the County so she is familiar with Medi-Cal and adds that knowledge base to our medical reviews. Stacey grew up in Rialto Ca and currently lives in Victorville with her husband and 2 Chihuahua's along with a rescued Pit Bull. She spends her free time working out at Kokomo Fitness, playing with her "babies", and riding on the back of her husband's Harley Trike. She loves hanging out with her 2 best girlfriends and watching her team, the Raiders, play football.
Dina McKinney is the firm's Personal Injury Case Manager and Senior Paralegal of the Personal Injury Department. She has been with the firm since 2001. Dina began her employment with our firm as a part-time file clerk/receptionist while working on her Associates Degree at Victor Valley Community College. She continued her education and obtained her Bachelor's Degree, majoring in Political Science in 2004 from California State University, San Bernardino. In 2007, she received her Paralegal certification and has been managing our personal injury case load ever since. She is currently in law school working on her Juris Doctorate. In addition to being the firm's Personal Injury Case Manager, she also manages the rest of the personal injury staff by assigning their daily work to ensure each case is moving through the system as quickly and efficiently as possible. Dina attends legal conferences regularly to make sure our office is up to date with the current laws and procedures.
Dina is an active member of The Well-Armed Woman where she is the Chairwoman of the Safety Committee and is an NRA Range Safety Officer. She is also a member of the Apple Valley Gun Club. She and her husband Jon have 5 rescued cats and she spent a good number of years volunteering for the Humane Society. While she and Jon chose not to have children of their own, she makes sure to spoil all of her nieces and nephews. She spends her free time reading, hiking, shooting, and working on law school! She is also a dedicated Green Bay Packers fan.
Jazmine Gonzalez is a part-time Legal Secretary in our Personal Injury Department. Jazmine came to us as a high school intern in 2016. She impressed us so much that after she graduated we did not want to let her go! So, we decided to add her to the team. Jazmine's primary role will be to assist the attorney and Paralegal with whatever they need, from preparing documents, to making phone calls, to being the first smiling face when you walk in to our Phelan office. Jazmine has learned so much since joining our firm in 2016. She helps complete the discovery process, a daunting task for even the most senior assistants, helps with information gathering, submits court documents, and fields various projects from the attorney as needed.
One of the things that immediately stood out about Jazmine is her care and concern for Veterans, a rare quality for someone so young. She has participated in the High Desert Veteran's Dinner at Serrano High School, where Veterans from all over San Bernardino County come to be honored. Jazmine is also aware of other needs in her community and offers to help wherever possible. She has participated in a "sock drive" for a local rescue mission, has helped out at a local animal shelter. Jazmine is currently enrolled in Victor Valley Community College working on her Associates Degree.
Karie LaFever is the Office Manager. She has been with the firm since 1998. At that time, the firm was Vondra and Shields. The firm eventually split creating the Law Office of Phillip T. Vondra specializing in personal injury and The Law Office of Shields, Hanna & Hayton specializing in Workman’s Compensation. The two offices merged once again in 2014 creating the Law Office of Vondra & Hanna. Karie has been the Office Manager throughout all of the transitions. She manages the finances and makes sure that the firm is running smoothly. Karie also maintains Phillip Vondra’s real estate and solar energy ventures.
Karie and her husband Tony were married in 1975; they have 5 children and 14 grandchildren. Her favorite pastime is spending time with her family. Karie is local community leader; she has served on the Snowline School Board for a number of years, is a Youth Leader in her church, and enjoys giving service in the tri-community. She has earned the respect of the community and is an asset to our firm.
Kimberly Haymond joined our firm in June of 2014. She is a Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant in the Victorville office. Kimberly exemplifies integrity, responsibility, and commitment. Her wide skill set ranges from Receptionist, to mail processing, to Legal Secretary for Mr. Hanna. Kimberly's experience consists of loss prevention and workers' compensation. She has her Degree in Criminal Justice and is also a graduate of her Corrections Academy with certifications in Defensive Tactics. She also participated in ROTC while attending Victor Valley High School. Kimberly is currently enrolled in the Paralegal Program at Victor Valley Community College.
Diana Frey is the Senior Workers' Compensation Paralegal at the Law Offices of Vondra & Hanna in Victorville. She works alongside attorney Robert A. Hanna. Diana has been with the firm since 2014. She is bilingual - fluent in both Spanish and English and is a Notary Public. Diana has two children, Richard Reza and Jessica Reza Miller and became a first time grandmother to a little girl in 2015. Diana's strongest assets are her hard work, dedication and compassion to help others. Diana's employment experience consists of: Law, Vocational counselor, Sales and Marketing.
Mireya Navarrete is a full time Legal Assistant in our Workers' Compensation Department. She received her Paralegal Certificate in 2003. She speaks both English and Spanish. One of the things she loves the best about her job is being able to listen and help others with their problems. Mireya, moved to the High Desert about 10 years ago. She loves to spend her free time with her two boys and her husband Ricardo. They love to go hiking, riding motorcycles out to the mountains, and most of all they love Football. She has volunteered a couple of times as a Team Mom for her kids sports.
Ana M. Llamas is a full time Legal Assistant in our personal injury department. She has been in the personal injury field since 2004, bringing to our firm many years of experience and knowledge. Ana is bilingual, fluent in both Spanish and English, Spanish being her first language. Her primary role in the firm is to assist the Attorney and Paralegal with whatever they need to keep the cases running smoothly and as quickly as possible. Ana grew up in the city of Los Angeles and moved to the High Desert in 2011. She is a mother of 1 boy and 4 girls. She spends her free time with her children, family and friends, enjoying the outdoors. She is however a big believer in making some time for herself as well. Ana is a problem solver and loves to help others.
